Superstar Nick Kroll was in LA with me a few weeks back and duder was on fire. He destroyed at Death Ray with his character Nico Payamas, the Argentinian standup and then made not one - but TWO - dynamite appearances on the "Trapped in the Closet" panel as Fabrice Fabrice, stylist from "That's So Raven." (see the awesome photo above)
Tonight at UCB-NY he's doing a showcase of all these characters and I highly recommend checking out.
UPDATE: While reading this post, please download the mp3 of Palmer's Theme by Sean Callery from the "24" Soundtrack.
I'm dumbfounded by the lack of media attention given to the death of David Palmer, our first African American President. Its been over a week since he was assassinated in the 2 hour season premiere of "24" - and NOT ONE of the major news outlets has commented on his death. President Bush has not issued one statement from the White House and even top leaders in the black community have been remarkably silent. I am going to take some time out of my schedule to remember President Palmer here on azizisbored.com.
President David Palmer was the first African American to ever hold the title of Commander in Chief in America. Despite several attempts on his life (thwarted by special agent Jack Bauer - an equally impressive American), President Palmer did not back down and led America to prosperity. He was assassinated on the January 15th 2 hour premiere of "24," seemingly for knowledge he had acquired about the upcoming season.
David Palmer provided wisdom, guidance, and excellent cameos for all 5 seasons of "24." His presence on the show will be greatly missed. President Palmer's unwavering committment to decency and justice was unparalleled in the "24" universe.
As we mourn his loss, we must remember some of his best moments in "24" -
- The scene in the parking garage where Palmer is confronted by young hoodlums who try to swing a bat at his face - only to have Palmer grab the bat in mid swing. Holy shit.
- Palmer seeing through his crazy wife Sherry's plot to get him to have an affair - and telling that intern girl to get the hell out of his face.
- When David was at a basketball gym and describes the "stop and swoop" an insurance scam that "happens everyday" but is nonetheless protected by All State.
May God bless David Palmer, and the country he loved. 1:50 AM-Permalink

TimeOut 25 to Watch in '06...
Roommate Zach just sent me scans of my section in the TimeOut NY's "25 to Watch in '06" article. And yes "Shutterbugs" fans, that is indeed Brandon Nero's headshot I'm burning! (My roommate Merlin's idea, photographer Meghan Petersen made the magic happen.) Here's the scans of the article:
And if that isn't enough - check out the charred Nero headshot remains on the ground in the Table of Contents page...
Charleston Comedy Fest, Sketchfest, and PLUG Awards (in NY!!!)
Sorry for the long stretch of no posts. First off, the "Trapped in the Closet" shows in LA were insane. I should get some pictures soon. We had awesome panel members that included Patton Oswalt, David Cross, Rob Riggle, and more! Not to mention - ACTUAL "Trapped" cast members and crew, including Bridget and "Big Man" and several producers (the stuff I know about "Trapped" now is insane.) Wait, til you see the pictures.
This weekend is the Charleston Comedy Festival, I'll be doing shows on Friday and Saturday at the American Theatre on 446 King Street. You can get tickets for the shows here.
My shows at the San Francisco Sketchfest are next Monday and Tuesday at the Punchline. You can get tickets for those shows here.
For those in NYC - I'll be hosting the PLUG Awards (indie music award show) at Webster Hall on February 2nd. The National and a bunch of other bands are playing.
I'm real excited because Jason Woliner (director of "Shutterbugs") and I are going to be shooting some video pieces just for the awards show and I'm super excited about them. We're hopefully going to get Huebel in some of them too, so it should be awesome.
Also, Crash Test returns on January 30th! Make reservations here. Right now, there are only 3 Crash Test's planned, because it looks like I'm coming back to LA for most of February and March (sorry NY!). I'll really make those 3 great though and when I get back, we'll be back in the weekly swing of things. 9:04 PM-Permalink
