LCD Soundsystem Tonight... Cool Tim Sweeney Mix...

Going to see LCD tonight. There is a primo set of openers, DJ sets from Tim Sweeney and Tim Goldsworthy, and a rare live appearance by the Juan Maclean (still havent' heard the album, but hear its good).

One Louder alerted me to an awesome Tim Sweeney Mix you should check out. Its 77 minutes, zipped MP3 file. I really hate those long 1 file mixes, but what are you gonna do. I just started listening to it and it kicks off with that nice DFA remix of NIN's "The Hands That Feeds."

M.I.A. at S.O.B.s

Good show last night. I thought M.I.A. seemed much more confident on stage than she did at Knitting Factory. The setlist was pretty solid, and the crowd always lost it when songs would dip in to their Piracy Funds Terrorism mixes.

I snapped a few shots, as did BV.

I know the question that's on everyone's mind, did M.I.A. dedicate her performance of "Hombre" to her comedic admirer Aziz Ansari? Eh... no.

Unfortunately no contact with my sweetheart this time around, however it could have been much worse. "How so Aziz?" Here's how:

- During the song "Amazon," when the line "let me go, I don't want your attention" comes up, M.I.A. looks directly at me and points, adding the line "this means you comedian Aziz Ansari."

- Instead of the "Yaaaaa Yaaa Heeeeeyyy" sing-a-long/chant typically done at the end of "Galang," M.I.A. just chants "Aziz Ansari, Go Fuck Yourself" and somehow the crowd understands exactly what she is saying and sings along.

- At one point in the show, I go to use the bathroom. During this part of the show, M.I.A. tells her DJ to stop the current track mid-song. Bewildered, the DJ does. M.I.A. takes the mic and says, "Is comedian Aziz Ansari here tonight?" Someone in the crowd yells, "Who is that?" M.I.A. responds, "I'm talking about Aziz Ansari, the guy that hosts Crash Test, the new weekly standup show at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, Mondays at 11."

The crowd is confused. "I'm talking about Aziz Ansari, the comedian thats performing his one man show 'Aziz Ansari Punched a Wall' Saturdays at 7:30 pm at the UCB Theatre." Someone in the crowd yells, "Oh yeah, I saw that show last week, it was excellent. Although M.I.A., make a note that there is no show this Saturday, June 11th due to Sketchfest, I believe you can make reservations for future performances at www.UCBTheatre.com."

M.I.A. is growing restless, "Look, I'm going to be honest, I have a sudden, unexplainable urge to make out with Aziz Ansari... Aziz? Anywhere?" There is an awkward pause for about a minute. "Is there at least a guy here that resembles Aziz Ansari?" A volunteer that looks somewhat like me takes the stage. I come out of the bathroom to see M.I.A. making out with the Aziz look-a-like.

Brazilian Post Punk Comps...

What kind of shit site is this, I'm just yapping about my shows and what not. Well, here's some new music for you. I recently picked up two Brazilian Post Punk compilations, Sexual Life of Savages (from the always awesome Soul Jazz Records) and Nao Wave: Brazil Post Punk: 1982-1988.

Based on my casual listens, this stuff is pretty awesome. Here are two tracks that I like a lot. Pick these discs up for sure.

Crash Test Recap!

Thanks so much to everyone that rolled through for Crash Test last night. I was overwhelmed, we had people sitting on the floor for an 11:00 show! Huebel and I had a blast hosting and are going to do our "Shutterbugs" presentation at Invite Them Up next Wednesday in case you missed it.

Much thanks to Andy Blitz, Jessi Klein, and Todd Barry, each who destroyed. Next week should be awesome too, can't wait!

Premium Blend! Crash Test Debuts Tonight!

Hey I'm back from Charleston and am happy to announce that last week I found out I'm going to be on Comedy Central's Premium Blend! The tapings are in NY, August 25-27, not sure which date I'm doing yet, but I'll be sure to post details on AIB once they are available. Of course, I shared the news with my friends over at Tallarico.com.

I'm also real excited for Crash Test tonight, we already have like 130 reservations for the show, so be sure to show a little early to grab a seat. Huebel and I are meeting up later to crank out some gold and I've also added super special guests John Reynolds and Eric Scott to do a sketch. For those that don't know Reynolds and Scott, you are in for quite a treat, these dudes are on some next level funny, and you know I don't throw that phrase around lightly. They were doing sketches down in Charleston and were just killing it every time out.

Alrighty, I'm out, I'll try to post some MP3s tomorrow.
